The 47RE transmission was introduced in 1996 and was used primarily in select Dodge Ram pickups and vans, including those with the 5.9L Cummins diesel engine or V10 gas engine. The 47RE transmission remained in use until 2002, when it was replaced by the 48RE transmission.
